Jason and I just spent a month on a big road trip, and now we’re back home as of last week. While it was definitely a fun trip (more details coming soon!), I’m kind of glad to be home all the same. Except the work part – I wouldn’t mind skipping that.
The past few years have been pretty rough for me mentally (thanks, Covid) and I’m really trying to get back into the swing of things. While Jason and I were obviously out and about while on our trip, it’s not the usual packed schedule I’m used to when traveling with my parents. And frankly, I prefer the more relaxed pace we had this time, especially with not traveling for so long. My parents have too much energy for me! Sometimes I just want to sit and experience the vibes. AKA, be lazy.
One thing I’m really excited for is to get back into cooking. It’s always been something I really enjoyed, even if I’m not particularly good at it. I was definitely the weirdo in the dorms cooking full three-course meals for fun on a random Tuesday. My first job out of college had good work/life balance but kept me on a tighter budget, and I really liked experimenting with meal planning. Once I started Workday consulting, all of that went down the drain. My budget had a little more flexibility, but the huge learning curve resulted in a LOT of late nights. I’m just now figuring out the whole work/life balance thing and trying to be a real human again. I’m really hoping that this last trip is a good mental reset for cooking, as well as work.
