This is my fourth post this year which I think makes it the most I’ve written on this site… maybe ever. No idea what’s gotten into me but obviously I am on a roll. I don’t really have that much to talk about but I guess that’s part of the fun (trying to be a little less self conscious about putting my thoughts on the internet. Just a little though). I’m hoping to make this a somewhat regular… ish… type post, TBD on that.
Baby Wik ready for Christmas! November 2004
We had put down my family dog Wicket a few months prior as it was really just time – he was almost 18 years old and was no longer able to live a comfortable life. He was such a cute little grump and always full of personality, and we all miss and love him very much.
Anddd… Introducing baby Zoe aka Zoomba aka Jojo! She joined my parents’ family (my family? I don’t know how this works now that my sister and I are Real Adults who don’t live with them) last December and is the cutest! She has a hundred nicknames, even more toys, and is totally spoiled rotten by my parents. The pic above is from my dad, because they took her to some kind of fall festival and decided she needed a photoshoot.
I have no shame in admitting that I have been waiting for Pumpkin Season to make this and it came out even better than I expected! It’s a bourbon pumpkin ice cream with salted molasses pecans mixed in (and on top). I used this great bourbon pumpkin ice cream recipe from Burrata and Bubbles and kinda Frankensteined the candied pecans from a couple different recipes. It’s actually a riff on a pumpkin pie I first made and loved a couple years ago, and it’s SO GOOD. First seasonal flavor for my future ice cream shop? I think yes.
Work has really been getting to me lately so I decided to do a staycation for a week. I was originally supposed to visit family up north, but that fell through for a couple different reasons so staycation it is. Which I guess sounds really weird after a year+ of Not Optional Staying At Home, but it’s exactly what I needed. Aside from some errands early in the week, I did a whole bunch of Nothing Useful and it was grand. 10/10 would recommend.
